It was a REFRESHING late afternoon and an amazing awesome pelasure to have Jean-Marie Bourgeois himself with us, the famed family member of the highly reputable Loire Valley producer of ten generation, Henri Bourgeois at WINE & CHEF.
We were delightfully treated to a remarkable selection of seven different Sauvignon Blanc from Sancerre and Pouilly-Fume, each displaying very distinctive character (fruit -driven, flinty, mineral, light, or filled with richness) even thou they are produced from the same grape variety, prominently showcasing the different terriors on both the banks, along the stretch of the mighty Loire River. From 150 millions years old Kimmerigdian soil to flint to limestone clays, appreciate each and every of those wines were the beautiful reason for being in the wine trade.
Totally love all the wines presented and even more of a palate sensory bonus pairing the wines with our signature Tofu & Century Egg dish, Salmon Carpaccio, and Chilean Mussels in Chinese Wine mixed Chicken Broth.
Furthermore Jean not only generously shared his wines with many of our guests, he too struck up interesting conversation with each and every one of them, many from different countries (Americans, Japanese, various Souteast Asians), sharing the romance of Loire Valley wines with everyone he approached. Thank you so much Jean-Marie for providing us with a lovingly unforgettable afternoon.
