With a young history, Fattoria Buccicatino started almost as a challenge in 1993. With a strong spirit of renewal and courageous choices empowered by his father John, Umberto Buccicatino created a small but dynamic company, which devoted to achieving a single goal – to produce wines of high quality standards.

Despite initial scepticism, Umberto had strong family support and his sheer determination has allowed his wines to become widely acclaimed by his customers. The early success of the wines have motivated Umberto to have a clearer direction on the operations of the vineyard, where he took a closer care into the treatment of the vineyards and the renovation of the basement which made way to a modern wine making facility and cellar. The upper floors later served as a guest house and tasting rooms for visitors.

The vineyards are situated in a hilly area with excellent south facing vineyards that were 150-300m above sea level. The clay and stoney soils had allowed low yields which enhance the organoleptic characteristics of the wines produced. The grapes are treated with care like with old traditions and the harvest is done by hand in order to minimize the damage to the grapes. In addition, the advanced machinery and technology used in the wine making contributes significantly to the characteristics and quality of wines from Abruzzo.

With a production of about 200,000 bottles per year, the winery is increasingly oriented towards improving the quality of the vines by replanting them with a high density per hectare kind of ratio. All that will not been possible without the professionalism and dedication of the popular agronomist and oenologist Romeo Taraborreli. The total vineyard acreage is 20 hectares of which 9 hectares are dedicated to Trebbiano and Montepulciano. Most of the annual production of wines gets exported to foreign markets such as Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, England, Canada, and USA.
