“Wine is my family’s fate. A destiny that involved my father first Elio Monti, along with his brother Anthony, then passed onto me. It was the late sixties. Since the beginning, business went well thanks to the opening of the commercial channel with Germany, from Cologne, a land of immigration and today’s market of great importance to us. In 2002 I took over from my father, who after decades of hard work has passed on, and I continued in the wake of his teachings. Essential contribution to my mother Elide, who plays the role of supervisor , my husband Mirko , who is responsible for marketing and relationship with our customers, which give us strength and over the years have often become friends. Then there is George, who is our Oenologist and winemaker. All with the external support of Riccardo Cotarella, from over the years has turned from being our consultant winemaker into a family person, a great person with whom we deal a lot and that helps us every year to unveil our style. Today we produce around 70,000 bottles, from the 10 acres of land, all located in Controguerra.”

Tradition has many masks to avoid recognition, stated Cocteau. Here, more than tradition we prefer to talk about customary practices: a protocol of actions we found the best to express our territory. This does not mean to stay closed in the past: it would mean not believe in the future. We look at the future with an eye toward the past. This means being open to innovations, but with a critical spirit, with the sole intent of making wine better. And without forgetting the teachings of those who made wine before us.

Our style is letting our territory express itself. I’ll be simple, but it’s so. We do not buy wines and we make them only with grapes treated by us, working only by hand. Our idea was not to convey beliefs through the bottles, because we do not make conceived wines . Therefore we call ourselves craftsmen of wine, without interest for other labels. Our idea is to improve more and more taking in mind the history of our results and our terroir. They told that the wines here, and not only Montepulciano, have qualities of balance and finesse particularly relevant.

Our Logo - Our dog Spinone called Baffo. He was an excellent hunter, a very faithful dog. He deserves to be the logo of our family veinyards. Here in Controguerra everyone has a nickname, and the nickname of Our family has always been “chill’ de lu cà.”
