Tasting Notes

Barbera d’Asti is a well-known Italian red wine produced in the province of Asti in the Piedmont region of Northwest Italy. The grape variety used in this wine as mentioned in the style of the wine is Barbera, which is known to produce a soft tannin and refreshing red wine. Its popularity by both the viticulturists for its often good yields and adaptiveness, and the consumers for its relatively versatile yet very appealing styles, is evident from the statistics that it is the third most planted grape variety in Italy, after Sangiovese and Montepulciano.

And in the province of Asti produced one of the best Barbera in the whole of Italy, especially in one of its sub-zone, Nizza. Its warm climatic conditions during the daytime with plenty of sunshine and well-exposed slopes allows the grapes to ripen perfectly with high natural sugars, yet the coolness of the night helps retain the all-important acidity, which eventually provides a very well-balanced wine.

This Beppe Marino Pietre Barbera d’Asti is made very approachable with perfumy nose of cherries, raspberries and blueberries. Medium-bodied and refreshing on the palate, soft of the tannins, an excellent bottle of red to enjoy slightly chilled during warm weather conditions.
